Ayub Medical College had the honour of having the famous philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi, NI visit us. As Head of the Edhi Foundation (together with his wife, Bilquis Edhi) they have received numerous awards including the Nishan-e-Imtiaz, the 1986 Ramon Magsaysay Award for Public Service, the Lenin Peace Prize and the Balzan Prize. Edhi spoke to the students and faculty about giving and helping the poor, which has been his life long mission. After giving a very emotional speech to the college he was directed towards the Flood Relief Campaign Warehouse where he was shown all the work which had been done up to date, including the collection of food items, water, clothing and shoes. Having Abdul Sattar Edhi visit us was a great motivational boost for all us and only made us want to work harder. We hope to see him again at AMC sometime soon.
