Todd Shea Visits AMC

Todd Shea visiting our warehouse with Dr. Noaman Siddiqui at Ayub Medical College in Abbottabad. Volunteers were frantically sorting out donations which have been pouring in everyday from our students and faculty. For those who don't know Todd Shea is an American who came to volunteer in Pakistan after the 2005 Kashmir Earthquake, a disaster that killed over 80,000 people. As Ellick noted in the New York Times, “he never left.” Three years ago, Shea established a Charity Hospital in Chikar, Azad Kashmir called CDRS, or Comprehensive Disaster Relief Services, which provides quality healthcare services to the people in the remote and earthquake-affected areas in northwest Pakistan. Chikar is one of Pakistan’s poorest and most remote villages located about 25 miles from the Line of Control. Todd was a great inspriation to all the students and volunteers at AMC...many of us believe firmly now that if a person from halfway around the world can come and do this much for Pakistan, then surely we as Pakistanis can match it and if not do even more for our country.
