Relief Reaches Gilgit

Ayub Medical College's Flood Relief Campaign has now reached Gilgit. Mr. Shahid Awan (Finance Coordinator, Disaster Management Centre - ) and Mr. Mohammad Haneef (Office Boy, Disaster Management Centre - Office Boy) were sent along with three minitrucks (Shahzaor) with relief items to the flood stricken town of Gahkuch in Ghizer District (of Gilgit Division). The relief items are currently stocked at the Green Valley Hotel in Gahkuch.
Members of APPNE (Association of Pakistani Physicians of New England) are already on site to help distribute aid and to treat patients as well. Items sent to Gahkuch were:

• 100 School bags
• 200 Bags of Food
• 40 Sacks of Clothing Items, Shoes & Hygiene Kits

Meeting With Liaquat Ali Khan / Relief Reaches Kohistan

The Flood Relief Campaign has reached Kohistan after a productive meeting with Liaquat Ali Khan, President of The Rotary Club, Abbottabad. With his help as well as the help of DRIP (Disaster Relief By Irish & Pakistanis) over 100 Food Packages were sent to Kohistan.

Ali Hamza & Ali Noor (Noori) Launch "Khayal Rakhna"

Noori's call for support of the flood victims began at Ayub Medical College on September 2nd, 2010. Ali Hamza and Ali Noor (of Noori) are launching an awareness and mobilization organization by the name of "Khayal Rakhna". The name itself explains the aspirations of this organization which is TO TAKE CARE OF OUR COUNTRY...PAKISTAN. After visiting the surrounding primary schools, Noori spoke to the students of Ayub Medical College and congratulated them on being extra-active in the relief efforts.

Charsadda Medical Camp

Volunteers from Ayub Medical College apart of the Flood Relief Campaign paid a visit to the Hissar Camp in Charsadda on August 26th, 2010. First, second and third year students were sent out with questionaires to collect vital information from the flood affectees, while fourth, final year students and doctors concentrated on the large number of patients who were lined up. From what we saw, most flood affectees were suffering from skin infections and although scabies was rampant throughout the camp, insect bites were also dominant. There were also slight cases of conjuctivits in many patients.

Shangla Medical Camp

We volunteered to leave for Shangla on the 27^th of August 2010, at 9:15pm on behalf of the AMC Flood Relief Campaign.

We had two pickups fully loaded with a variety of food items.  After a 5 hour drive we reached Besham at around 2 am.  At Besham, the goods were transferred onto vans since the road condition was poor. As the road condition got worse we had to move the goods by foot for about 2-3 kilometers.

We reached the Village Karshaat around 10:30am. There we distributed the relief goods to 100 flood affected families.

Later, we continued our journey towards the Village of Shahpur. Once again we distributed goods for another 100 families of Shahpur. Attached is the list of all 200 families we served. The list was provided to us by the local Flood Relief Committee.

Despite all the hardships we managed to accomplish our goal, thanks to Allah’s Grace. And special thanks goes to the rest of the volunteers of the Ayub Medical College Flood Relief Campaign for dedicating their time and effort for arranging this donation drive.
